2019 has been a blinder! Twelve months of creativity, dedication, new projects, new faces, personal milestones and feel-good fun. As we reach the end of December, we look back at some of our favourite highlights from the year…
The first few months brought plenty of new things, as we kicked off the year with a fresh start. Not only did we launch a new PH website in 2019, we also debuted our own PH film, installed new office deco and most importantly, welcomed a host of new starters! Lottie, Alex and John joined the team in Q1; followed by Karen and Elaine later in the year.
New faces all round
As the PH team grew, so did our client roster. After much hard work and creative pizzazz from our design team, we won pitches and secured work with LEVC, Bibby Financial Services, SUEZ and Telos. It's great to have these brands included in our portfolio.
As we began working with LEVC, we had the opportunity to take a real electric taxi for a spin! The company generously let our team test-drive the vehicle for two weeks and we certainly made the most of it! One of the highlights was our 'Emissions-Free' day which involved a PH carpool to work - a chance for us to slash emissions and do our bit for the environment. Find out how we got on here.
Summer rolled on and we decided it was time for some fun. Armed with sun hats and sunscreen, we took a trip down the River Leam on kayaks and pedalos; chowed down on some great BBQ food and finished it off with some expert cocktail-making. During other times of the year we've had-togethers at a local Chinese restaurant, celebrated birthdays with lots of bunting and cake and had several Friday lunchtime trips to the pub. Our annual Christmas celebration was also great fun, with the team taking part in a host of fun games.
Of course, 2019 has not been all fun and games - we've done a lot of hard work as well. Earlier this year we were named one of the 'Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Coventry and Warwickshire,' an achievement we're very proud of. Find out why by clicking here.
In May we were joined by Jonas from our German office. He quickly settled in to the team in the UK and during his three-month stay, actively socialized with his British colleagues. Jonas attended our summer party, two football matches (Birmingham City and Aston Villa no less!), a BBQ, pub roast dinner, brewery tour and hen party - he was certainly kept busy and also managed to squeeze in some sight-seeing and local fish and chips. In return, Jonas treated the office to some tasty German cuisine. Oh - and he also took on our 'Brit Tucker Trial' in which he tasted some of the UK's best - and worst - staple foods.
Health & Wellbeing
Mental health was made a priority this year with the introduction of a mental health awareness workshop. This was a great chance for us to chat about stress, work / life balance and to learn how we can take better care of our wellbeing.
Ring out those (wedding) bells
Two members of the team changed from Miss to Mrs this year. Our Senior Acccount Executive Madison got married in Mexico in April and our Content Executive Rebecca tied the knot in Warwickshire during September. Both were obviously treated to hen dos - PH style! Lots of giggles, games and giant doggie balloons ensued!
A PH baby!
Introducing the first PH baby… Maya Elise Tierney entered the world on 29th June 2019. Her parents Simon and Nicola were both PH employees when they met (Simon still is!). Several years later, they're married and now parents, bringing up the PH talent of the future - no pressure guys!
Doing our bit ...
We've been spreading good cheer throughout the year at PH, not just at Christmas. Our 'Macmillan Bake Off' was a huge success - an array of beautiful and delicious cakes were whipped up by the team and more than £ 70 was raised for Macmillan. Some of our colleagues also competed in an exciting 'Bear Grylls Adventure' challenge to raise money for the UHCW Neonatal unit in Coventry. This year's Christmas card also came with a charitable (and tasty) twist. We asked clients to design a gingerbread man / woman and submit their ideas to us. After that, the team rallied around to reproduce these designs by decorating real gingerbread shapes and sending them out in time for the big day. For each gingerbread design submitted, we donated £ 5 to the UHCW Neonatal unit in Coventry, raising a total of £ 600!
And (as they say at Christmas) that's a wrap! Thank you to all our clients and colleagues for yet another successful year at PHUK. We're so excited to see what the New Year and the next decade has in store.
